2019 Q3 – Basics
Part 1 – Installation
In the first part of the class we talked about how we can install Cinema 4D both for Windows and Mac.
Part 2 – General Setup
In the second part we changed all the default settings and preferences of Cinema 4D to fit our needs.
Part 3 – Quick Overview
At the end of the session I gave gave a quick overview of the program.
Unfortunately there was an error with the recording of the first half of the session. In the second half we then talked about how to create a simple render setup for an “infinite floor” and how we can render out masks in order to change colors later on in Photoshop.
In this session we explored modeling techniques based on NURBS (Non-uniform rational B-Spline). So, essentially, how to create 3D geometry created from splines.
We used Extrude, Sweep, Lathe and Sweep.
This time we took a look at some manual polygon modeling techniques. We learned about the following tools:
Extrude / Extrude Inner
We used these techniques to create a low poly model of a house.
Afterwards we rendered it out with a transparent background and used Photoshop to create add some color effect.
Glass / Gold / Cloner / Dynamics
In this session we learned about glass materials and what sort of environment and geometry is needed to make them look decent.
Then we took a look at the Cloner to create multiple copies of one or multiple elements. We also used the Random Effector and Danamics to affect our clones.
Preparation for F2F
In this session we touched a whole lot of topics concerning your F2F projects. We learned some new modeling techniques, as well as some more options for adding textures to our models.
